The rich and famous have also discovered this strip of coastline and have built mansions in the cliffs high above the beach as well as some very elegant beachfront properties on the eastern edge of the beach (one home was previously owned by Sylvester Stallone). Also, be aware of the places where the channel exits the reef, as this is a common area for strong rip currents. Be aware of the channel markers and stay out of the boat channel when snorkeling. The campground area also features several pavilions, kiteboarding and windsurfing lessons are held here, and there's also boat ramp where deep sea fishing boats head out through the channel. Local families often set up large camps and have family events here during the summer. Bounce houses and waterslides for the keiki are a common sight. Anini is one of the best beaches for kids on Kauai, as the entire beachfront is protected from swell and the water is shallow. The official campground is located on a large lawn. Facilities include showers and restrooms. Anini also features great swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, and windsurfing during the summer months. With two miles of sand ahead of you, there is plenty of time for beachcombing. This long stretch of sand is protected by an equally long stretch of reef, which makes it one of the most protected beaches on Kauai's North Shore.
